With the festive-cum-wedding season right around the corner, we took it upon ourselves to collate a comprehensive shopping guide of the 20 best multi-designer stores in our very own city of Mumbai. 1. Le Mill
A multi-functional lifestyle concept store complete with women’s wear, children’s wear, costume jewellery, pretty furniture, a cute café and an in-house flower shop! Atosa offers an eclectic and handpicked mix of new, budding designers along with pieces by classic contemporary designers. “We love designers with a somewhat alternate sense of aesthetics and something new to offer,” says Azmina Rahimtule, owner of Atosa. This one is all things strictly prêt. Shop here for an extensive range of designs by Gaurav Gupta, Gauri and Nainika, and Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna to name a few. Kimaya sells a vast selection of heavily embellished bridal and couture wear for the opulent shopper. 7. Karmik
Big names, not-so-huge prices – that’s the USP of this store. Believe it or not, Karmik offers affordable pieces by prominent Indian couturiers such as JJ Valaya, Ranna Gill and Anamika Khanna to name a few. That’s affordable designer wear for those looking for something special without burning a hole in their pockets.

8. Fuel
One of the few oldest designer stores in the city, Fuel houses prêt, diffusion, home accessories, fashion jewellery, handbags, saris and designer menswear spread over five thousand square feet. With over sixty-five designers, this store keeps Indian and western wear on an even keel with its varied variety. They showcase new-age designers like Rabani & Rakha, Charu Parashar, Pankaj & Nidhi and Rehane along with contemporary accessory designers like Meera Mahadevia, Bansri, Stoffa and  Bracialeto.

9. Bombay Electric
An eclectic mix of avant-garde fashion. Here you are bound to find anything from India that’s related to design, fashion, art, vintage styles and music. Check out their in-house brand, Ghee Butter, for some truly unique yet affordable wares along with shockingly eccentric designers like Karishma Shahani and Periwinkle Sunglasses. The store is also home to really interesting vintage Indian posters and other spunky odds and ends like funky key chains and brooches.

10. Bungalow 8
A finely curated store with some great wardrobe, accessory and lifestyle pieces. The Bungalow also hosts an easy-to-wear chic in-house collection designed by Mathieu Gugumus Leguillon, and Jamini Ahluwalia’s exclusive jewellery designs. The philosophy of the store is to bring in new avant-garde labels that are ethnic yet unknown – from Dosa by Christina Kim, Isharya by Radhika & Gauri Tandon to Injiri, a Pune-based organic cotton label. Plus, we love the way the store visual merchandiser takes it up a notch by decorating the rooms like a real lived-in house.

11. Ogaan
A visual amalgamation of traditional and contemporary designs for the shopper – Ogaan brings together the biggest names in Indian fashion with new, emerging talent. The USP of the store is its tenacity to give a sound platform to the best of Indian designers, their crafts and skills. Owned  by Kavita Bhartia, the store curates avant-garde designs and new trends effortlessly. 12. D7
As the same suggests, D7 boasts of seven fabulous Delhi designers all under one roof. They stock creations by Manish Arora, Moon River, Namrata Joshipura, Nidhi and Pankaj Ahuja, Rabani and Rakha, Rajesh Pratap Singh and Tulsi by Neeru Kumar. 13. Melange
A big supporter of garments that are a product of eco-friendly concepts, Melange stocks great pieces by the lesser known, yet talented designers such as Kallol Dutta, Anuradha Vakil and Ranji. Helmed by Sangita Kathiwada, the store first opened in 1993 inside a 100-year-old wine cellar and enjoyed the patronage of those who loved textiles, art and local craftsmanship.

14. Cypress
The hole-in-the-wall store, Cypress is not easy to spot but has managed to stay at the top of every Bandra girl’s shopping list. With a variety of embellished shifts and gowns in tow for every red carpet event, this store also manages to retail some really cute sequin slippers, embellished sandals, Indian clutches with stonework and jadau-work and ethnic jewellery that’s perfect for weddings and sangeets.

Another store that has been in the city for the longest while, Samsaara stocks an extensive range of Indian, western, bohemian and traditional wear. The quaint little store at Kemps Boulevard is every shopaholic’s delight with a range of Indian and western wear on showcase throughout the year. With both prêt and couture options, the store has managed to house some great labels as well as new designers like Dolly J, Priya Singh, Gaurav & Ritika, Jyoti Sharma and Varija Bajaj.

18. Kitsch
Kitsch is your chance to shop for some of the most fashion-forward and coveted international designers such as Stella McCartney, Halston Heritage, Diane Von Furstenburg and Alexander McQueen. The store also showcases Moschino and Lanvin – two of our very favourite labels. The store has an in-house stylist who takes personal attention to another level and gives you solid advice on the latest fashion trends and colours. 19. The Collective
International labels at their very best, The Collective stocks an extensive range of sixty international luxury fashion brands including Armani Collezioni, D&G, Hugo Boss, Vivienne Westwood, Fred Perry, Hackett, J Brand, Michael Kors, Simon Carter, True Religion and Juicy Couture. According to Attic’s co-owner, Rixi Bhatia, “Attic promotes fashion, art, design in every form. We are a platform for new and upcoming designers who want to try something out of the box. Also being a fashion and lifestyle store, there are no limitations to the creative collections, if you have a new idea, we will provide the platform.” Attic has two in-house labels and over fifty super cool labels retailing under one roof. We absolutely recommend the Lomography camera collection, Ruchika Sachdeva’s handsome cuffs and other trinkets along with avant-garde labels like Sabbah Sharma, Gaga by Tanya and Camiz.
